Police, ArrrMe, Security and Photography!

It never fails to amuse me - the slightest of misplaced movements, actions or comments can land you in a world of trouble in ways you'd never dream of.

Picture the scene:

Wandering down towards O'Keeffe for a quick pint with Kentee and Mags before the final college exam (web development - the word ancestor totally threw me!). A client rang and we discussed a few small things as we passed McDonald's when I noticed a rusting '91 land-rover with raised shocks and massive wheels. Cool I thought, and pulled out my old Nikon SQ to take a snap. Mission accomplished!

Then I hear a "Hey You!"...

I swing around to find a steyr Aug rifle beside me (angled to the ground), a clunky green bullet proof vest, and a firm hand on my shoulder. I'd taken a photograph near a bank money transfer, and they really really don't like that. The soldier (still with my shoulder gripped) calls to a garda, who begins to walk over. All I can do is tell the client I'll call him back!

The Garda tells me in a no shit matter of fact way that he'll have to take the camera on account of me snapping the bank transfer. I insist I hadn't taken any whatsoever and point him towards the image playback function. The two snaps of the dirty big land-rover appear and are instantly presumed to be military. I can't help but smile (I'm a red beacon at this stage, whats a smile now?) and direct him to the zoom-in button to have a closer look - pointing out the shots are of the battered 4x4 in front of us.

He agrees, hands back the camera and issues an "On your way!"

Pix (including the landrover) in the usual spot! Roll on the web dev exam ;)
